Abstract

As a text, the Qur'an is basically an inanimate object. He can speaks because of human reason that understands it. As said by Imam Ali ra. "Indeed, the Mushaf of the Qur'an does not speak, but it is humans who speak." This kind of "historical—as well as historical text"—will certainly lead Muslims to always carry out "excavation of meaning" throughout history. Various theories of interpretation also appear in the scene of Islamic civilization. This short article is an attempt to uncover the dimensions of text historicity that has been drowned out by dominant discourses in the course of Islamic civilization for centuries. Using a hermeneutic approach, concluded that 1). It is possible for the text historicity to be reappeared in realm of Islamic discourse. 2). In turn, text reconstruction efforts will be possible and give birth to a plural variety of meaning, in accordance with the plurality level of Islamic society. 3). Hermeneutics as a new interpretation theory in Islamic world—as a terminology—of course does not mean that it is completely incompatible with the breath of the Islamic spirit. With a careful study of these hermeneutic aspects, will make them a new science in the tradition of the Qur'anic studies.
