Mitos Monyet dalam Al-Qur’an: Kajian Semiotik Roland Barthes
Abstract
The Quran is often referred to as the book with the highest literary standards. It contains signs that are God's message to His people, and these signs must be carefully studied if the message to be conveyed is to be fulfilled. Quranic symbols can be understood using some science. One of his is the science of signs, or what is known as semiology. As one of his signs mentioned in the Qur'an, the word Qirdah or is often translated as the word monkey. This is interesting because there are many animal species present. The Qur'an mentions only a few animals, including monkeys. For example, in everyday life, the word little monkey or little monkey is used to express anger or insult towards others, so the image associated with the word little monkey itself looks very bad. Furthermore, the Qur'an, as a scripture, uses the word monkey to convey God's message. This study examines the Quranic monkey word analyzed by semiotic figure Roland Barthes in one of his mythological theories. According to Barthes, mythology is a communication system for giving meaning, so any message or meaning contained in the word monkey can be understood in Baltic mythology or mythology. The results show that the Quranic word monkey means humiliation and shame.
